WWE just likes to break that fourth wall down every now and again, thinking that if a character tells you "This is the real me, not the character speaking," it's some sort of revolutionary booking.īut breaking kayfabe, the idea that wrestling is real, is now the norm. It can be something as simple as John Cena calling The Rock "Dwayne" or Roman Reigns telling Cena that he's nothing more than a part-timer. Looking back over the past several years, WWE typically breaks kayfabe whenever it feels like a marquee angle needs that extra boost to make it more compelling.
